So by now some of you may have gotten my support letter… This blog is basically just filled with all the information I wanted to include on there about the race and each place I’m going but didn’t have the room 🙂
Training Info!
Gainesville, Georgia: Before my squad and I head out of the U.S. we will all meet together in Gainesville, Georgia for training. So basically for the entire month of September my squad and I will being discipled so that we can disciple others well. Before we launch, our squad will be trained to live with and minister to people who have different challenges and beliefs, but who have the same need for a Savior that we have. We will also be discipled in our own relationships with the Lord and given practical tools to live in healthy community with each other and navigate the coming months of life on the mission field.

Cambodia: Our first stop right now is Cambodia! Cambodia itself is struggling to heal from one of the worst genocides in modern history. In the 1970s, the Khmer Rouge killed over 1.5 million men, women, and children. Faced with inconceivable poverty and desperation, Cambodia became a source, transit point, and destination for human trafficking. The people of Cambodia are hungry for hope and healing. With the aftermath of the genocide of a generation and over 98 percent of the population unreached by the Gospel (97% Buddist and 2% Muslim), my squad and I will serve alongside and support the Adventures in Missions base staff through church planting efforts, ministries of local churches, and evangelism in order to reach people with the Gospel and empower locals through the process. The missionaries on the base have been preparing for and eagerly awaiting World Race teams again after being cut off from much overseas help for the past 2 years due to Covid-19.
Thailand: Thailand is known by many as “The Land of Smiles”, but Thailand also has a dark reputation of sex trafficking and sex tourism. Nearly 90% of the population is unreached with the Gospel and 95% of the population is Buddist. The Adventures Base in Thailand collaborates with a network of other ministries who are working tirelessly to plant churches, provide opportunities, and meet needs within the community. With so many impacted by the sex trade, these ministries also help rescue and restore those who have been caught in the cycle. We will work with them there to provide the encouragement, manpower, and service these ministries desperately need and have been missing since the start of the pandemic. We’ll also have the chance to encourage local believers, and support them in their effort to share the Gospel with their neighbors.
Romania: Romania is in the heart of Eastern Europe. The country is home to many Romanians who are familiar with the Orthodox Church and Roma people who are among the least reached in the country. While there, we will be serving with Hope Church, a longstanding partner with Adventures In Missions. They seek to fulfill the spiritual and physical needs of the people according to the teaching and practices of Jesus Christ as laid out by Matthew 9:35-38. World Race teams usually help this ministry with children’s day camps, handing out eye glasses to those who are in need, evangelism, etc. Hope Church places an emphasis on kids and youth ministry by engaging the younger generation with the Gospel so my squad and I will have the opportunity to be heavily involved with that as well.
Guatemala: Guatemala is home to over 16 million people. Gripped by poverty, the people of Guatemala hunger for the Kingdom of God. The majority of Guatemalans practice a form of Catholicism, and it’s estimated many also mix in ancient tribal religions and cultural traditions into their faith. The Adventures Base in Guatemala has a passion for reaching local villages with the empowering message of Jesus Christ. They aim to activate the Guatemalan Church to reach their community and send their own missionaries to the world. My squad and I will get to come alongside men and women of God in local villages to teach English, disciple children and families, pray for the sick, evangelize in homes and on the street, and provide basic needs for the very poor (such as water filters and stove installation) In a country with a high rate of malnutrition, meeting physical needs remains an important part of the ministry. I might also spend my days building relationships with youth who are at risk for falling into gang violence by teaching them English or kicking a soccer ball with them. Life in Guatemala is slow and focused around hospitality, and it’s a truly stunning place where God is raising up a generation to serve His Kingdom.
Now although I am excited for each country, all of these locations are subject to change based on a variety of factors. If the Lord permits that one of the country choices should change I will let you know all the details as soon as possible!! But until then please be praying for me and my squad as we prepare to minister in all of these places for the next 9 months. I can’t wait to see what the Lord will do in each country 🙂
